Dods and dens

Just in case there are any still left who doubt the ruling class has trashed the Constitution, I found an article up there on the intertubes this week which should convince anyone who still has a functioning braincell. Sadly, I'm fairly sure it will not. The media has made a huge event about the government sueing the state of Arizona over their new law regarding illegal immigrants. Commentary from both sides has been quick and often heated, but somehow there's been one point I've seen at only one site.

According to this article, written by a lawyer, Judge Bolton does not have jurisdiction to even hear this case, nor does the 9th Circuit Court. They quote from Article 3, Section 2, Clause 2 of the Constitution which states that for any court action involving one of our states, original jurisdiction lies with the Supreme Court. Being kind of a nerd, I happen to keep a copy of that document right here on my desk and it does indeed state exactly that. Now I'm nowhere near a lawyer so cannot parse words as they do, and perhaps there have been previous cases which created precedent changing or overriding that clause, but it seems we should have heard more about this.

Just in case you wondered about where our ruling class places their priorities, up in Michigan, certainly one of most hard hit states as to unemployment, one city has recently laid off firefighters but at the same time they bought an $850,000 water sculputure.

And its possible things are even worse in Newark. According to this report, the city can no longer even buy toilet paper. Talk about the stench of polictics.

Does anyone remember Chernobyl? Apparently the effects of the explosion are still being felt, and may be for another fifty years. I also did not know that wild boars were such a big problem in Germany. But I have to admit I was all but shocked to read about their problem with radioactive ones.

I've not mentioned Tiger Woods nor his marital, golf or sponsorship problems, and likely will not do so again. Whatever amount of money his wife gets from the divorce appears to be, if nothing else, deserved. And sadly I suspect it will be years before he regains his mastery of the pro golf tour, if ever. In other words, there are no winners. But I'll bet you grin when you see this cartoon.
